Simone Chu

Peer Concentration Counselor
Class of 2021 (Currier House)

Hello! I'm Simone Chu, and I'm a senior in Currier (spiritually, not physically, at the moment). I'm concentrating in Government and working on a secondary in History. I want to work in journalism after graduation -- especially political journalism -- and because of that, I've built my concentration requirements to give me a lot of breadth, so I can help inform my future reporting. I really love the Gov department for the breadth of classes offered; there's something for everyone, no matter what your interests.

Outside of academics, I spend most of my time as a news editor for The Crimson. In past years, I reported on campus politics and Title IX. I've also written for the Harvard Political Review, performed in a musical, and dabbled in comedy (I make graphics for Satire V, and I was a producer for On Harvard Time). And, thanks to quarantine, I've been spending more time doing creative writing and working on graphic design projects!

I've done both broadcast journalism internships and print journalism internships, so if you're thinking of working in either of those, feel free to reach out to me! Most recently, I was an intern at KNBC in Los Angeles, where I got to work on both daily news and long-term projects.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about the Government concentration, working in journalism, or any other interests -- or just to say hi if you want to make a Zoom friend!
