I study the interaction between economic geography and partisan politics in the advanced democracies. My dissertation project argues that increasing geographic inequalities have reduced party nationalization and have increased the extent to which voters respond to local factors. I would be happy to advise dissertations on virtually any subject in the politics of the advanced democracies, especially in European countries. I have particular expertise on political parties and political institutions in Western Europe, but my interests are broad, and include both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
