Class of 2020 (Leverett House)
My name is Max Weiss, and I am a Junior in Leverett House from Cincinnati, Ohio. I am working as a Peer Concentration Counselor for the Government Department starting in the Fall of 2018. I concentrate in Government with special interests in American Government, Public Health, and Health Policy. I have experience in a wide range of activities outside of my course work. I am involved in the arts community on campus as President of my Improv group, staff writer for Harvard’s online satire magazine SatireV, and writer for the 171st Hasty Pudding Show. I direct the Harvard College Alzheimer’s Buddies program. I also have experience in research with the Government Department as well as in a wet-lab context, with data-analytics in a hospital setting, and in the realm of public health.
As you can tell, I pursue several different interests at Harvard. Although I did not plan on concentrating in Government when I arrived at Harvard, I feel very fortunate that I fell in love early in my Freshman Fall with the type of critical thinking, skills and expertise to be learned, and extraordinary faculty found uniquely in the Government Department at Harvard. I plan on a career in medicine, so I balance my Government coursework and my Pre-med coursework. If you are having trouble juggling academic, career, and extracurricular interests and are wondering where your passion for Political Science fits into it all, please do not hesitate to contact me. Just send me an email with the subject line “Shake Shack Chat?” and I will be more than happy to talk!
