Julie Anne Weaver

Julie Anne Weaver is a PhD candidate in the Department of Government at Harvard University. She researches local-level political accountability in developing countries, particularly in Latin America. Her dissertation and book project study what happens when voters try to hold their elected officials accountable in contexts with weak institutions and political parties. Prior to Harvard, Julie worked in the field of international development, beginning her career in Sub-Saharan Africa, with long-term work in Rwanda and shorter-term positions in Mali and Zambia. Her more recent work focused on Latin America, where she spent four years in Lima, Peru working on politics and governance research. Julie holds a B.A. in Sociology from Barnard College and an M.A. in International Development and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
